The Restaurant Server Assistant supports dining-room service at Neiman Marcus by maintaining tables and service stations, delivering food and beverages, and assisting waitstaff and kitchen staff. This is a seasonal, part-time position paying $10 per hour.

Role & Responsibilities

• Maintains dining room tables by clearing and resetting them.
• Delivers popovers and butter, pours water, and delivers food and beverages to guests according to kitchen tickets.
• Maintains the bus station and beverage areas.
• Learns dining-area table numbers and sections.
• Supports kitchen and service staff with guest requests, plate restocking, bagging takeaway orders, and setting up the expediter station.
• Assists waitstaff by refilling beverages and running food from the kitchen to the dining room as needed.
• Sets up the dining room with key items, including coffee, iced tea, and ice.
• Restocks dining-room glasses, flatware, and linens.
• Participates in daily pre-shift meetings.
• Completes assigned pre-shift, post-shift, daily, and weekly duties.
• Lifts and moves items such as tables, chairs, and highchairs.
• Cleans and maintains the restaurant and workstation.
• Maintains high hygiene standards, including a clean, pressed uniform and clothing and shoes, and clean, professionally styled hair and nails kept to avoid food-contamination risks.
• Reports to the work area appropriately dressed and prepared, with supplies and equipment needed for the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience serving food and beverages and following proper table-service guidelines.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Motivated and results-driven.
• Knowledge of proper placement of china, glassware, and flatware for table settings.
• Thorough knowledge of service sequence and proper placement of table settings, food, and beverages as indicated by kitchen tickets and the guidebook.
• Thorough knowledge of food, including preparation and culinary terminology.
• Ability to interact graciously with the public and manage multiple duties simultaneously.
• Exceptional customer-service and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative, “win together” mentality.
• Able to stand, bend, climb stairs, and lift and carry 35 pounds.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

The base compensation for this position is USD 10 per hour.
