Neiman Marcus seeks a Director of Operations in Short Hills, NJ to lead store operations, P&L and cross‑functional support. Salary range: $125,631–$157,039.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Drive store profitability by managing the Profit & Loss and controlling store-controllable expenses to align with business objectives.
  • Oversee all support and operational functions—receiving, fulfillment, transfers, returns-to-vendor (RTV) and back-of-house processes—to ensure a seamless selling flow.
  • Lead store-level accounting and financial administration including invoice processing, bill paying and corporate credit card reconciliation.
  • Optimize staffing levels and payroll through oversight of scheduling systems; ensure adequate executive and sales coverage to support the selling process.
  • Manage operational performance metrics (RTV, transfer execution, fulfillment, operating expense) and implement corrective actions to meet targets.
  • Coordinate facilities, maintenance, renovations and capital projects in partnership with the Facilities Coordinator to preserve the retail environment.
  • Act as primary liaison with Corporate IT to ensure technology and equipment function properly to support sales operations.
  • Execute HR-related responsibilities: support associate relations, performance management, SFA HR audit compliance, weekly roster maintenance, PTO and LOA administration.
  • Oversee workers' compensation processes and return-to-work accommodations in partnership with Asset Protection and corporate HR teams.
  • Build and manage operational budgets; ensure adherence to guidelines to minimize expense and maximize revenue; perform ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum five years of progressive retail experience with increasing scope and volume, ideally in a multi-brand luxury environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in expense management, shortage control and basic accounting principles.
  • Proven ability managing P&L responsibilities and preparing operational budgets.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with experience guiding store managers and cross-functional partners.

Experience
