Neiman Marcus in Troy, MI seeks a Chef Manager to oversee restaurant operations, culinary team leadership, and catering (Chef Manager, Troy).
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead daily culinary and front‑of‑house operations to deliver elevated guest experiences and uphold brand standards.
- Manage food inventories, control waste, and monitor daily food costs to achieve planned cost‑of‑goods targets.
- Develop, execute and maintain daily recipe book, specials, soups and menu items; ensure consistent plating and presentation.
- Ensure strict compliance with NMG, local and federal health and sanitation regulations and third‑party audit requirements.
- Supervise, train and coach kitchen and restaurant associates; partner with Human Resources on performance management, payroll and benefits matters.
- Coordinate catering and in‑store events; work with the supervisory team and Regional Director of Restaurants to support special promotions.
- Oversee ordering, vendor relationships, batch invoicing and month‑end forecasting in accordance with Corporate Purchasing Contracts.
- Monitor POS reports and restaurant financials; communicate scheduling, P&L, and operational issues with the restaurant management team.
- Maintain dining room and kitchen standards for quality, cleanliness and professional presentation; support front‑of‑house procedures when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven record of achieving operational and financial results in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading, motivating and coaching kitchen and service teams.
- Basic financial literacy with experience managing food costs, inventory and simple forecasting.
- Working knowledge of order of service, table settings and fine‑dining service expectations.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, climb stairs and lift/carry up to 35 pounds; flexible availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Proficiency with MS Office Product Suite; familiarity with POS reporting.

Experience
Proven supervisory experience in a culinary or restaurant setting, with a track record of leading teams, managing kitchen operations, controlling food costs and delivering high‑quality guest service. Experience supporting catering and special events is strongly preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
