Neiman Marcus seeks an Asset Protection Investigator in Austin, TX to conduct loss prevention, surveillance and investigations to protect people and inventory.
Role & Responsibilities
- Maintain the general safety of customers, employees and the store through proactive presence and risk mitigation.
- Conduct monitoring and surveillance to detect indicators of internal and external theft, fraud and suspicious behavior.
- Lead and execute internal and external investigations, including interviewing, evidence collection and documenting findings.
- Prepare detailed incident reports for thefts, recoveries, accidents and audit findings, maintaining chain‑of‑custody where applicable.
- Support inventory loss reduction initiatives via audits, training and collaboration with store operations.
- Respond to emergency situations and assist store leadership in crisis management.
- Participate in store operational programs and loss‑prevention training initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1+ years of progressive experience in loss prevention, asset protection or related investigative role.
- Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to represent a luxury retail environment professionally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to accurate, timely documentation.
- Basic proficiency with computer software and the ability to complete digital incident reports.
- Demonstrated investigative capability and conflict management skills; able to assess and de‑escalate situations.
- Ability to work on‑site in an assigned store and respond to changing priorities or unexpected situations.

Experience
At least 1 year of hands‑on experience in loss prevention, asset protection or retail investigations, preferably within a multi‑brand or luxury retail environment.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary coursework or certifications in criminal justice, security management or related fields preferred.

Compensation
The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 22.61 to USD 28.26 per hour.
