Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform high‑quality alterations and restyling of luxury garments to Neiman Marcus standards, matching or exceeding original construction.
  • Execute a broad range of alteration techniques (e.g., altering seams, rotating and shortening sleeves, narrowing shoulders, shortening collars and backs, shortening and re‑lining coats, remaking pockets).
  • Assess fit and structural quality; assist fitters to achieve desired garment fit and alterability.
  • Operate, troubleshoot and maintain all sewing equipment and machinery used in the alterations workshop.
  • Self‑inspect completed work to ensure consistency with brand quality standards and complete alteration tasks assigned by Supervisor/Lead/Manager.
  • Interpret and act on written and oral instructions; prioritize and complete assignments within production timelines.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment preferred, with exposure to varied garment styles and fabrications.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and spoken English to follow instructions and safety procedures.
  • Proficiency with standard arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and measurements used in garment alteration.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity and a commitment to delivering precision finishing consistent with luxury standards.

Experience
