Role & Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional fittings and high-quality garment alterations for high-end merchandise, making on-the-spot alteration decisions during customer fittings.
  • Model and uphold Saks Fifth Avenue customer service principles to create and develop excellent customer relationships.
  • Achieve and exceed individual performance and productivity goals for the alterations workroom.
  • Operate and maintain standard sewing, pressing and spotting equipment and authorised specialty machines.
  • Follow all store, alteration workroom policies and tailor procedures to ensure a safe, compliant work environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workstation and support store/department initiatives and ad hoc responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of fitting and tailoring experience with high-end or designer garments.
  • Proven ability to fit and perform alterations across a wide range of apparel types and fabrications.
  • Technical proficiency or working knowledge in specialty techniques (leather, knits, double-face fabrics, beading, fine tailoring, buttonholes) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to operate standard sewing, pressing & spotting equipment and specialty machines (e.g., double-blind, buttonhole, cover-stitch).
  • Knowledge of luxury garment fabrication, styling and alterations industry best practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
