Moynat in Paris seeks a Materials Development Specialist (temporary) to drive leather, canvas and metal component development and industrialization.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Development team—particularly the materials function—in supplier interactions during development and industrialization phases.
  • Develop and qualify new materials (leather, canvas, metal components) in collaboration with Design and suppliers, ensuring conformity with the Maison's specifications.
  • Manage availability of development materials and place development orders to meet project timelines.
  • Initiate and follow colour developments; prepare masters and prototypes for validation.
  • Lead material transformation projects and oversee industrialization: approvals, master creation, and transmission of technical information to Production and Quality.
  • Review and optimise development processes to reduce lead times and control costs.
  • Design and run appropriate tests, analyse risks on new items, and verify material conformity on receipt.
  • Maintain and update material specifications and launch material tests; integrate new material samples into physical and digital databases.
  • Monitor development stock and inventories; produce consumption reports and anticipate potential quality issues.
  • Represent the Maison at relevant trade shows and supplier meetings to source new techniques and materials.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree from a recognised school (eg. ITECH, ENSAIT) or equivalent technical qualification in textiles/leather.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in material development for accessories, leather goods or related product development.
  • Proven experience with industrialization processes, supplier management and materials testing.
  • Fluent French; professional working proficiency in English. Italian is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Experience
