Montblanc is hiring a Time & Methods Specialist in Scandicci, Italy — lead time studies and process improvements for luxury production.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, conduct and validate time-and-motion studies to establish standard times and work content for production operations.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and method sheets for assembly and finishing processes.
- Analyse production workflows, identify bottlenecks and propose line balancing, layout and takt-time improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, SMED, poka-yoke) to improve efficiency, quality and safety.
- Collaborate with production supervisors, quality and engineering teams to implement new methods and monitor adherence to standards.
- Prepare quantitative reports and dashboards on productivity, efficiency and capacity; translate findings into actionable improvement plans.
- Train operators and line leads on updated methods, ergonomic best practices and correct application of time standards.
- Support capacity planning and labour costing by providing validated standard time data for work orders and line scheduling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Proven experience in methods engineering, work measurement or industrial engineering within precision manufacturing or luxury goods production.
- Practical knowledge of work measurement techniques (time study, MTM, MODAPTS or equivalent) and process mapping.
- Demonstrable experience leading Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement projects.
- Strong analytical aptitude with the ability to convert time-and-motion data into process improvements and capitalise on productivity gains.

Experience
Typically 3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial/methods engineering or production engineering, preferably within precision manufacturing, watchmaking, leather-goods or other luxury goods production environments. Demonstrated track record of implementing measurable productivity improvements and working cross-functionally with production, quality and engineering teams.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification. Formal training or certification in work measurement or Lean manufacturing is highly desirable.
