Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage product-related trade compliance across the product lifecycle, including HS/commodity classification, origin determination and customs valuation for finished goods and components.
  • Define and document export control classifications (e.g., ECCN/dual‑use where applicable) and ensure screening against sanctions and restricted‑party lists.
  • Own the interface with customs authorities, external customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure correct import/export declarations and timely clearance.
  • Support product launches and assortment changes by assessing trade impact, advising product, sourcing and logistics teams, and embedding compliance requirements into procedures.
  • Maintain and update product master data related to tariff codes, origin, preferential trade agreements and customs documentation in enterprise systems.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments, internal audits and remedial actions; prepare documentation and responses for external audits and regulatory enquiries.
  • Develop and deliver training and guidance for commercial, product and supply‑chain stakeholders on classification, Incoterms, customs procedures and export controls.
  • Monitor regulatory developments globally and translate legislative change into practical process, policy and system updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international trade, law, logistics, business administration or a related discipline; advanced or professional certification in trade compliance preferred.
  • Typically 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in customs, commodity classification, export controls or trade compliance; experience within luxury goods, fashion or consumer goods strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of HS nomenclature, origin rules, Incoterms, customs valuation and preferential trade agreements.
  • Proven ability to interact with customs authorities and external brokers, and to manage cross‑functional stakeholders (product, sourcing, logistics, legal).
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to documentation and a process‑oriented mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting guidance, training materials and audit responses.
