Capri Holdings (Michael Kors) — NY Metro Area — Leave Manager: lead North America in-house leave program, manage Leave Coordinators, ensure compliance and improve processes.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a team of Leave Coordinators responsible for day-to-day leave administration, providing coaching, performance feedback and quality assurance.
- Act as primary escalation point for complex or sensitive leave cases for Leave Coordination, HR Business Partners and business leaders.
- Oversee end-to-end administration of Capri’s in-house leave programs (FMLA, ADA, state paid leave, STD, LTD, parental and Canadian provincial leaves) and manage the full case lifecycle: intake, eligibility, notifications, documentation and return-to-work.
- Maintain and refine leave policies, forms, workflows and case documentation to ensure clarity, consistency and compliance across North America.
- Collaborate with Payroll, Workday and Benefits to ensure accurate pay, benefits continuation, direct billing and time tracking for employees on leave.
- Partner with Risk Management on workers’ compensation leave placement while preserving WC ownership with Risk.
- Lead a redesign of leave processes and employee/manager communications (letters, status updates, guides, FAQs and templates) to improve user experience and reduce ambiguity.
- Evaluate, recommend and support selection and implementation of leave management software; partner on Workday configuration, testing and rollout.
- Monitor and analyze leave trends, volumes, durations and risk indicators; prepare dashboards and insights to support strategic decisions and policy changes.
- Ensure audit-ready documentation and act as subject-matter expert on U.S. federal, state and local leave laws and Canadian provincial requirements; partner with Employee Relations and Legal on complex accommodation or extended leave matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of direct leave management experience, including administration of FMLA, ADA and state/provincial leave programs.
- Proven experience managing or leading a leave administration team or direct reports preferred.
- Deep knowledge of multi-state U.S. leave laws; Canadian leave experience strongly preferred.
- Track record of improving or redesigning leave processes, communications or systems.
- Experience with HRIS platforms; Workday experience is a plus.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, empathetic and compliant employee messaging.
- Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage escalations and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required.
