Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all finance and accounting operations for the Japan entity, covering Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost and Inventory Accounting, Treasury and Revenue Recognition.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate preparation and publication of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate statutory and regulatory reporting, including tax filings and reporting to external financial institutions, ensuring compliance with local requirements.
- Research, interpret and resolve complex technical accounting issues to maintain adherence to applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and quality assurance over financial transactions and reporting.
- Oversee accounting operations performed by the overseas shared service centre, ensuring service quality, SLA adherence and compliance.
- Direct the annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes, perform variance analysis and report key findings to management.
- Provide insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support decision-making by the Regional CFO and business leadership.
- Consolidate financial data across Japan and Korea entities, ensuring consistent accounting treatment and reporting standards.
- Lead or contribute to global accounting and finance-related projects and perform additional Controller-level responsibilities as required.
- Recruit, develop and coach Finance & Accounting team members to build a high-performing organisation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience across accounting and finance functions with demonstrated people management responsibility.
- Hands-on knowledge of accounting principles, standards and procedures and proven experience preparing statutory and management financial statements.
- Demonstrable experience owning month-end and year-end close cycles and delivering accurate, timely results.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese.
- Advanced Excel skills and proven ability to analyse and present financial data effectively.
- Experience with accounting systems including system administration and controls.

At least 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including direct line management and ownership of month-end/year-end close, statutory reporting and consolidation across multiple legal entities.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional accounting qualification preferred (CPA JP / US or equivalent).
