Role & Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to deliver analytical and operational datasets.
- Prepare, clean and format data for processing, analysis and downstream consumption.
- Author code to extract, validate and profile datasets; act as subject-matter expert on data definitions and quality.
- Perform database feature engineering to support quantitative research and modelling.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, product owners and systems owners to deliver data products.
- Implement and operationalize anomaly detection systems in partnership with developers.
- Define and propagate department-wide principles and workflows for data quality management.
- Serve as point-of-contact for data structure, lineage and quality inquiries; ensure timely business partner satisfaction.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or equivalent role.
- 3+ years developing in SQL with strong query-writing and optimization skills.
- Experience building and profiling production data pipelines and working with large datasets.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Talend, Amazon Glue and Airflow.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with R.
- Working knowledge of Snowflake and experience with AWS services.
- Solid understanding of data modeling principles and database feature engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, active listening and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work collaboratively across teams.

At least 3 years of hands-on data engineering experience building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines, profiling large datasets, and delivering data products in cross-functional teams; retail industry experience is a plus.
Education
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent work experience.
