A skilled makeup artist role within the MAC counter at Edgars Beauty in La Lucia, this position combines creative artistry and technical expertise to deliver personalized, inspirational in-store experiences for customers. The role encompasses makeup application, customer education, visual merchandising maintenance, and participation in in-store events within a fast-paced retail environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide inspirational and personalized makeup consultation and application services to customers
- Educate customers on makeup techniques, product benefits, and MAC's product range
- Maintain high standards of visual merchandising to ensure compelling in-store presentation
- Operate retail point-of-sale systems and process transactions
- Participate in in-store events and promotions to drive sales and brand engagement
- Work collaboratively as part of a high-performing sales team
- Demonstrate extensive product knowledge and stay current with trends and techniques
Qualifications
- Certification or qualification in makeup artistry preferred
- Demonstrable creative and technical makeup expertise
- Proven ability to deliver inspirational, authentic, and personalized customer service
- Experience with retail point-of-sale (POS) software
- Flexibility to work retail hours including days, nights, weekends, and special events
- Right to live and work in South Africa (proof required upon interview invitation)
Skills
Experience
While previous retail makeup experience is preferred, applicants with amateur-level makeup experience who can demonstrate strong creative and technical expertise are welcome to apply. Experience in prestige beauty retail is advantageous.
Education
Formal qualification in makeup artistry is preferred but not required; however, candidates must demonstrate an equivalent level of creative and technical proficiency.
