As a freelance makeup artist and sales associate for MAC, a prestige beauty brand under Estée Lauder Companies, this role combines creative artistry with personalized customer engagement to deliver inspirational in-store experiences. Responsibilities include providing makeup consultations and demonstrations, executing point-of-sale transactions, collaborating on in-store events, and maintaining visual merchandising excellence. While formal makeup artistry certification or retail beauty experience is desirable, candidates with amateur-level expertise and strong technical creative skills are encouraged to apply.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide personalized makeup consultations and demonstrations to educate and inspire customers
• Execute point-of-sale transactions and handle cash/payment processing in a fast-paced retail environment
• Collaborate with team members to execute in-store events and promotional activities
• Maintain and elevate visual merchandising standards to ensure competitive store presentation
• Deliver exceptional, authentic customer service that reflects brand values and fosters loyalty
• Work flexibly across retail hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events

Qualifications

• Formal makeup artistry qualification or previous retail beauty counter experience (preferred but not required)
• Demonstrated creative and technical expertise in makeup application and color theory
• Proven ability to deliver inspirational, personalized, and authentic customer service
• Proficiency with retail point-of-sale (POS) software systems
• Flexibility to work varied retail hours including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
• Legal right to live and work in Canada

Skills

Experience

While formal makeup artistry certification or prior retail makeup experience is preferred, applicants with amateur-level expertise who can demonstrate high-level creative and technical ability are welcome to apply. Retail point-of-sale experience is required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; makeup artistry certification programs or beauty industry training courses are desirable but not mandatory.
