As a Counter Manager for MAC, this role combines expert makeup artistry with team leadership to deliver a distinctive in-store experience at Fenwick Canterbury. The position encompasses personalized customer consultations, visual merchandising oversight, in-store event execution, and retail team supervision, requiring both creative technical expertise and strong customer engagement capabilities. Candidates with makeup artistry certification or prior prestige beauty retail experience are preferred, though promising applicants demonstrating high-level creative and technical skills are welcome to apply.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide expert makeup consultations and demonstrations to customers, combining creative vision with technical precision to drive sales
• Lead and mentor in-store beauty team to achieve visual merchandising standards and maintain competitive brand presence
• Conceptualize and execute in-store beauty events and activations to drive customer engagement and brand impact
• Manage retail point-of-sale operations and ensure accurate transaction processing and inventory management
• Foster a welcoming and inspirational retail environment through personalized, authentic customer service
• Maintain high standards of store presentation and product displays to reflect brand prestige
• Work flexibly across retail hours including evenings, weekends, and special event coverage

Qualifications

• Makeup artistry certification or prior retail makeup experience preferred; amateur-level experience with demonstrated high-level creative and technical expertise also considered
• Proven ability to deliver inspirational, authentic, and personalized customer service
• Experience with retail point-of-sale software systems
• Ability to work retail hours including days, evenings, weekends, and special events in a fast-paced environment
• Legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom
• Strong visual merchandising sensibility and retail presentation standards

Skills

Experience

Makeup artistry certification or previous retail makeup experience is desirable; however, applicants with amateur-level experience who can demonstrate high-level creative and technical expertise are encouraged to apply. Experience working in fast-paced retail environments and managing customer-facing operations is valued.

Education

Certification in makeup artistry is preferred but not required.
