MAC seeks a dynamic freelance Beauty Advisor/Artist to deliver personalized in-store consultations encompassing makeup application, skincare guidance, fragrance, and hair expertise. Combining creative flair with technical knowledge, this role emphasizes inspirational customer engagement and visual merchandising excellence within a fast-paced retail environment. While makeup certification and prior retail experience are preferred, candidates with beginner-level expertise and strong interpersonal skills are equally welcome to develop within a supportive, training-rich culture.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide personalized makeup application and consultations to customers, demonstrating product knowledge and creative expertise
- Deliver professional skincare, fragrance, and hair consultations tailored to individual customer needs
- Create an inspirational and welcoming in-store experience that educates and delights customers
- Collaborate with the sales team to execute impactful in-store events and promotional activities
- Maintain and uphold high standards of visual merchandising to differentiate the brand against competitors
- Process sales transactions using point-of-sale software and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Work flexibly across retail hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and special events in a dynamic environment
Qualifications
- Proven ability to deliver inspirational, authentic, and personalized customer service
- Retail point-of-sale software experience
- Ability to work retail hours including days, nights, weekends, and special events
- High level of creative and technical expertise in makeup application, skincare, fragrance, or hair consultation
- Proof of right to live and work in Canada
- Creative confidence and self-motivation to work independently and as part of a high-performing team
Skills
Experience
While retail experience in beauty or prestige cosmetics is preferred, candidates with amateur-level expertise demonstrating strong creative and technical ability are encouraged to apply. Prior exposure to retail environments is valued but not strictly required for those with proven cosmetics knowledge.
Education
Makeup artistry certification is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates without formal certification but possessing demonstrable expertise in makeup, skincare, fragrance, or hair consultation are welcome.
