LVMH Recherche seeks Lab Formulation Engineer in Pudong, Shanghai to drive innovation in cosmetic product development with global regulatory expertise.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation by identifying breakthrough opportunities through competitive product analysis and emerging market trends
  • Establish strategic partnerships with suppliers and specialized local subcontractors to co-develop novel materials and processes
  • Develop new formulas aligned with marketing briefs, quality standards, and regulatory and toxicological constraints
  • Execute comprehensive formulation testing, including stability monitoring, physical characterization, and cosmetic evaluations
  • Prepare and submit technical dossiers and samples to internal and external partners for approval
  • Adjust materials and processes to meet cost, sensory, and performance targets
  • Report information and risks to line management and project leadership
  • Ensure project handover to the industrialization phase and monitor stability profiles
  • Maintain traceability of actions in daily project management tools
  • Participate in laboratory operations, including workspace organization and raw material management
  • Drive continuous improvement and laboratory safety initiatives
  • Escalate any operational failure or potential risk impacting brand integrity or corporate reputation

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in cosmetic formulation or product development roles
  • Advanced knowledge of chemistry and physico-chemistry
  • Comprehensive understanding of cosmetic raw materials and their functional characteristics
  • End-to-end product development expertise from concept to industrialization
  • Working knowledge of global cosmetic regulations (EU, FDA, China)
  • Proficiency with analytical instruments (rheometers, pH meters, viscometers, spectrophotometers)
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical issues through data-driven insights
  • Capacity to synthesize complex data into structured written reports
  • Clear oral presentation skills for communicating technical findings to cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in sensory evaluation techniques for texture and fragrance assessment

Experience

Education

Master's degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent scientific field is required.
