Assistant Accountant role at luxury fashion group in Singapore, managing GL operations and financial close for portfolio of maisons.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support daily transactional accounting including journal entries and reconciliations across multiple entities
- Perform month-end and period-end closing activities, including preparing GL entries and reviewing trial balances
- Maintain accurate financial records for inventory, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts
- Manage key expenses including monthly rental costs and significant operating expenses
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations and ensure accurate postings
- Prepare monthly accruals and partner with Business Planning & Control teams on review and analysis
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax obligations, and company policies
- Apply and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial integrity
- Support internal and external audits, tax reporting, and statutory requirements
- Prepare schedules and reports to support financial statements and management analysis
- Manage accounting for cost allocations, revenue recognition, and inventory accounting
- Prepare monthly Group reporting ensuring high accuracy and completeness of GL data
- Use ERP systems and BI tools to optimize accuracy and efficiency
- Identify and propose improvements to streamline accounting processes
- Participate in system enhancements and business process optimization projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or audit role
- Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA preferred
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Knowledge of internal controls and regulatory compliance requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Meticulous attention to detail with commitment to financial reporting accuracy
Skills
Experience
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an accounting or audit function, with demonstrated competency in general ledger operations and financial close processes.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is preferred.
