Role & Responsibilities
- Design, provision, configure, and maintain Akamai security solutions including App & API Protector, WAF, Bot Manager, and Content Protector
- Monitor and continuously tune Web Application Firewall rules and rate limiting policies to minimize false positives while maintaining security against OWASP Top 10 threats
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate real-time DDoS attacks and malicious bot traffic without disrupting legitimate user traffic or search engine crawlers
- Implement and manage API-specific security controls, ensuring positive security models, schema validation, and discovery of unmanaged endpoints
- Collaborate with application developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to translate business requirements into secure, scalable edge configurations
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation for edge configurations, incident playbooks, and operational procedures
- Identify opportunities to automate configuration management using Akamai CLI, Terraform, or APIs
- Monitor platform health, review Akamai release updates, and implement platform best practices across the security services lifecycle
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience managing and configuring Akamai security solutions (App & API Protector, Bot Manager, Client-Side Protection, Edge DNS)
- Deep understanding of web application security principles, including OWASP Top 10 and API Security Top 10
- Proficiency in analyzing HTTP/S traffic and utilizing Akamai Control Center or SIEM dashboards
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and advanced DNS administration in enterprise environments
- Solid understanding of TLS/SSL certificate lifecycle management at the edge layer
- Effective English communication skills, both written and verbal

Mid-Senior level professional with significant hands-on experience managing Akamai security platforms and implementing web application security solutions in enterprise environments. Experience with edge security, DDoS mitigation, and API security strongly preferred. Familiarity with infrastructure security tools such as Check Point firewalls, cloud-based Secure Web Gateways (e.g., Zscaler), Multi-Factor Authentication systems (e.g., Duo), or Privileged Access Management solutions (e.g., CyberArk) is a plus.
