The Visual Merchandising Manager owns the vision and delivery of Louis Vuitton pop-up and special projects across Mainland China, from concept through opening and in-life management. The role leads creative direction, cross-functional stakeholder engagement, project budgets and execution, and continuous improvement of the client and retail experience.
Role & Responsibilities
- Own visual merchandising direction for assigned pop-up and special projects, from concept development through opening and in-life management.
- Translate headquarters and China visual merchandising direction into locally relevant experiences while maintaining Louis Vuitton brand consistency.
- Contribute creative ideas and identify opportunities to elevate the client journey, visual impact and overall experience.
- Review and challenge concepts, designs and proposed solutions for aesthetic quality, brand relevance, feasibility and retail impact; anticipate issues and identify improvements early.
- Represent visual merchandising in project discussions and provide structured recommendations to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Build partnerships with Retail, Merchandising, Communications, Learning, Project, Procurement, landlords, external agencies and suppliers.
- Coordinate with Communications and experience-related teams so visual merchandising supports the launch narrative, client journey and communication strategy.
- Incorporate retail operational needs—including customer flow, product presentation, back-of-house requirements and day-to-day store management—into visual merchandising decisions.
- Lead visual merchandising development for spatial planning, product zoning, displays, windows, mannequins, styling, lighting, materials and props.
- Review and challenge 3D floorplans, elevations and design proposals, considering visual impact, client journey, product capacity, operational feasibility and the overall experience.
- Partner with relevant teams to ensure proposed experiences are inspiring and practical for Retail teams to operate, and tailored to the location, audience, commercial objectives and project context.
- Lead end-to-end visual merchandising delivery for assigned pop-up projects, meeting quality, timeline and budget objectives.
- Guide suppliers, production partners and installation teams while maintaining high execution and quality standards.
- Review quotations, manage visual merchandising budgets, and work with Procurement and Finance on purchasing and governance.
- Direct production, installation and opening; resolve issues proactively and escalate key risks appropriately.
- Ensure completed environments reflect the intended concept and deliver a consistent, high-quality Louis Vuitton experience.
- Monitor pop-up projects throughout their lifecycle and identify improvements to visual impact, product visibility, client experience and operational effectiveness.
- Provide regular, concise reporting and feedback to visual merchandising management, covering achievements, issues, recommendations and learnings.
- Use observations from Retail, client experience and business performance to inform visual merchandising adjustments where relevant.
- Capture project learnings and develop recommendations and best practices for future pop-up and special projects.
- Share relevant market, competitor and industry observations to inspire ideas and strengthen future visual merchandising approaches.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of relevant visual merchandising experience, preferably in luxury, premium fashion, beauty, lifestyle or high-end retail.
- Proven experience owning pop-up, temporary retail, special-project or experiential visual merchandising projects from concept through execution.
- Strong experience working with multiple stakeholders and external partners in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Experience presenting concepts, recommendations and project updates to senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing suppliers, budgets and project delivery is highly preferred.
- Fluent written and spoken Chinese and English.
- Willing and able to travel frequently across Mainland China and support key installation and opening periods.
