Louis Vuitton seeks a Leather Selection Specialist in Venice, Italy for full-time footwear manufacturing role with 5+ years experience.
Role & Responsibilities
- Evaluate raw leather and identify material characteristics and potential defects
- Calculate leather consumption yields and material costs
- Perform manual and machine cutting of leather and related materials as needed
- Ensure all material selections align with Maison specifications and quality standards
- Travel to tanneries for leather sourcing and selection activities
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a leather selector or material grader in footwear manufacturing or artisanal shoe laboratories
- Deep knowledge of footwear construction techniques and materials
- Proficiency in leather cutting techniques and material optimization
- Willingness to travel to tanneries and supplier facilities
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
