Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare dial substrates and materials; conduct colour research and pigment development for enamel and miniature painting.
- Apply traditional and haute-orfèvrerie enamel techniques including émail Champlevé, cloisonné, plique-à-jour and grisaille de Limoges, and execute miniature enamel painting using the Geneva sous-fondant technique.
- Manage kiln firings (cuissons) autonomously, including temperature control and sequencing for multi-stage firings.
- Perform lapidage and polishing (lapidage et polissage) to finished tolerances and surface quality.
- Execute in-process and final aesthetic and dimensional self-inspections to ensure conformity with the studio creation brief.
- Produce hand-enameled and hand-painted parts to the studio’s specification and quality standards, collaborating with design and finishing teams to resolve technical or aesthetic issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years' professional experience in enamel work, preferably with experience in watch dial enamelling or haute horlogerie.
- Proven mastery of multiple enamel techniques (Champlevé, cloisonné, plique-à-jour, grisaille de Limoges) and miniature painting methods.
- Solid understanding of watchmaking production processes and ability to work to tight dimensional tolerances.
- Formal training in métiers d'art, fine arts or a related craft discipline is a strong advantage; prior watchmaking credentials desirable.
- Demonstrable attention to detail, manual dexterity, creative problem-solving, autonomy and ability to communicate constructively within a small atelier.
