Loro Piana seeks a Raw Material QC Manager in Impruneta, Italy to lead leather inspection and quality assurance for luxury shoe and leather goods production.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the QC team, balancing internal staff and external service providers
- Participate in new collection leather presentation meetings held by the LG&SH leather engineering teams, facilitating information sharing regarding material specifications, standard advancement requests, and pre-series launches
- Validate leather pre-series with respective engineering departments and support the development of reference standard tolerances (e.g., color master tolerances)
- Plan and schedule material testing activities and manage external testing service suppliers
- Monitor and verify test results against defined specifications, intervening promptly to address any anomalies or critical findings
- Execute material testing procedures and verify correct data entry and system registration
- Analyze QC performance indicators and escalate findings when necessary
- Participate in problem-solving sessions and cross-functional working groups
- Conduct periodic compliance audits of testing stations at external vendor facilities
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all QC operations
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in luxury leather processing and quality control
- Deep knowledge of the complete raw material lifecycle, particularly tanning and leather engineering processes
- Expertise in premium leather varieties, including suede, reversed leather, exotic skins, and fine calf leather
- Proficiency with computer systems and business tools (reporting, data analysis, presentation software)
- Fluent English (written and spoken); French is desirable

Minimum 10 years in the luxury leather sector, with demonstrated expertise in leather engineering, cutting, or quality control operations and comprehensive understanding of raw material lifecycle processes, particularly tanning and leather production workflows.
