Loro Piana in Milan seeks a Product Development Specialist - Jersey to support knitwear development, supplier coordination and prototype execution.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Product Manager in planning and executing the Jersey collection from prototype through production, ensuring aesthetic targets, quality standards and commercial objectives are met.
- Coordinate prototype and sample development activities with internal functions and external suppliers, ensuring adherence to defined costs and timelines.
- Monitor prototyping costs, material consumption and overall product costing to safeguard collection profitability.
- Collect and translate technical and aesthetic inputs from the Design team for suppliers; propose optimised solutions to achieve the desired outcome.
- Oversee production progress and supplier deliverables to ensure on-time delivery and conformity to specification.
- Participate in fittings, defect-correction trials and technical reviews, driving resolution and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in product development or garment technology, preferably within knitwear/jersey and luxury apparel.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge of jersey and knitwear construction, model/pattern development and fitting processes.
- Experience coordinating external suppliers and managing production phases to meet cost, quality and timing targets.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise concurrent development activities and control prototyping budgets.
- Excellent attention to detail, effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset when working with design, production and sourcing teams.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, Industrial Design or a related discipline (or demonstrable professional experience).

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in product development within knitwear or jersey, ideally in a luxury or premium apparel environment, with hands-on involvement in prototyping, supplier coordination and production follow-up.
Education
