Loro Piana seeks Master of Mending for Madison Avenue Atelier—expert knitwear restoration specialist combining luxury craftsmanship with client-facing storytelling.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform expert mending and restoration on knitwear garments, including knit stitch and hole reconstruction using traditional hand-stitching techniques
- Execute chain stitch repairs on delicate fabrics with precision and attention to luxury standards
- Conduct garment reconditioning and pressing, adapting technique to varied yarn compositions and fiber content
- Perform minor tailoring repairs such as sewing buttons, attaching labels, and other finishing details
- Operate personalization machinery to monogram or embroider initials on shirts and scarves
- Interact directly with clients within the Atelier space, demonstrating expertise in garment care and sharing Loro Piana's heritage and textile knowledge
- Assess and diagnose repair needs with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all work meets luxury craftsmanship standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in knitwear repair and garment restoration
- Advanced proficiency in knit stitch and hole reconstruction techniques
- Expert-level skill in chain stitch application
- Demonstrated experience handling delicate luxury fibers including wool, cashmere, cotton, and specialized yarns
- Proficiency with hand-stitching tools including needles in various sizes, thimbles, and tailor's scissors
