Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble handbags autonomously using fine and exotic leathers, ensuring luxury finish and dimensional accuracy.
  • Read and interpret pattern sheets and technical specifications to translate designs into production components.
  • Perform leather splitting (spaccatura), skiving (scarnitura) and die-cutting/trimming (tranciatura) with precision.
  • Apply adhesives using spray and latex techniques and carry out subsequent finishing required for assembly.
  • Set up, adjust and perform basic maintenance on production machinery and tooling used in bag preparation.
  • Verify material quality and yield, flagging defects and ensuring compliance with product specifications.
  • Coach and transfer know-how to junior operators and apprentices; support team production targets and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in handbag preparation within the luxury leather goods segment (10 years preferred).
  • Proven mastery of splitting, skiving, die-cutting and adhesive application for high-end handbags.
  • Deep knowledge of luxury leathers, including exotic skins such as crocodile (with and without agatatura finishes).
  • Demonstrable experience with leather goods machinery and tooling, and with setting up production equipment.
  • Strong manual dexterity, meticulous attention to finish, and a sense of responsibility for product quality.
  • Proven ability to mentor trainees and work collaboratively within a small production team.
