Longines seeks a Technical Project Manager – Watch Casing in Saint-Imier, Switzerland to lead CAD design and development of timepiece components.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute 3D and 2D CAD design and construction of watch casing components including cases, dials, hands, and bracelets
- Define construction solutions and technical specifications for casing components to meet aesthetic, functional, industrial and quality requirements
- Conduct feasibility studies, tolerance chain analyses, technical drawings and documentation required for industrialization
- Review and validate technical deliverables produced by external partners and suppliers
- Direct prototyping, testing, validation and refinement activities for component construction
- Integrate aesthetic, functional, industrial and quality constraints from early development phases
- Create, maintain and control technical data within CAD, PLM (3DEXPERIENCE) and ERP (SAP) environments
- Provide technical support to internal departments and external partners throughout product development
- Organize, track and coordinate project activities, deliverables and milestones across cross-functional teams
- Coordinate contributions from internal and external stakeholders on assigned projects
- Organize and facilitate working sessions and meetings essential to project success
- Identify, monitor and escalate project risks, action items and decisions requiring arbitration
- Communicate regularly on project progress and status
- Manage cross-functional R&D projects focused on materials, manufacturing processes and construction principles
- Monitor mechanical and quartz movement developments in relation to casing design
- Contribute to the deployment and evolution of 3DEXPERIENCE and PLM processes in the technical department
Qualifications
- Engineering degree from HES, EPF, or equivalent technical training in mechanical engineering, microtechnology or product design
- Minimum five years of confirmed experience in CAD construction of watch casing components
- Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating cross-functional technical projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD design (volumetric and surface modeling)
- Expert knowledge of functional tolerancing, tolerance chain analysis and technical documentation standards
- Strong understanding of materials, surface treatments and manufacturing processes
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate complex technical projects across departments
Skills
Experience
Minimum five years of hands-on experience in CAD construction and technical development of watch casing components (cases, dials, hands, bracelets). Demonstrated background managing cross-functional technical projects and coordinating with internal and external partners in a complex product development environment. Experience with PLM systems and product data management in an industrial watchmaking context is valued.
Education
Engineering degree from HES (Haute École Spécialisée), EPF (École Polytechnique Fédérale), or equivalent higher technical qualification in mechanical engineering, microtechnology, or product design. Additional training or certification in project management is advantageous.
