LOEWE seeks a Store Planning Manager in Tokyo to lead retail space planning, design localization, and project execution across new openings and renovations in Japan.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the complete store planning process for new openings, renovations, and retail space projects, from timeline development through final execution
- Monitor project status, budgets, and quality throughout all phases, providing timely information to support decision-making and ensure strict compliance with Japanese Building Standards Law and Fire Service Act
- Act as primary liaison between headquarters Store Planning team and local market teams, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders including department stores, landlords, and contractors
- Oversee vendor, contractor, and supplier management throughout project development, maintaining scope control and cost efficiency while upholding brand and quality standards
- Manage procurement activities and delivery schedules to ensure timely readiness for new openings and renovation projects
- Lead localization and implementation of headquarters-specified design materials, fixtures, and store elements while adapting them to local market context
- Collaborate with local architects, contractors, and suppliers to preserve design integrity and execute headquarters design intent
- Coordinate with Retail, Finance, and cross-functional departments to align on project priorities, costs, and timelines
- Share technical developments, project updates, and best practices within the Store Planning team to drive consistency and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in retail store planning, architecture, interior design, construction, or project execution, preferably within a luxury or premium retail environment
- Proven track record managing store openings, renovations, and major development projects from conception through delivery
- Demonstrated proficiency with Japanese Building Standards Law, Fire Service Act, and applicable store development regulations
- Strong background in department store operations and understanding of retail activities beyond the store environment
- Solid project management and planning capabilities
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Fluent in both Japanese and English at native level
Skills
Experience
5–8 years in retail store planning, architecture, interior design, construction, or project execution within a luxury or premium retail setting. Proven experience managing store openings and renovations. Experience working in international and cross-functional organizations is preferred.
