La Grande Epicerie de Paris hiring Wine Specialist, Paris, France. Five-month contract to advise clients and drive wine sales.
Role & Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and identify their preferences to recommend wines and spirits from the extensive selection
- Advise clients on product choices, provide expert recommendations, and execute sales with suggestive selling techniques
- Maintain point-of-sale operations and process transactions
- Ensure the visual presentation and stock levels of wine and spirit products through restocking, cleaning, and product placement
- Participate in pre-purchase tastings and assist winemakers during client tasting events
- Lead and animate client tastings as appropriate
- Conduct inventory counts and prepare orders as part of regular departmental operations
Qualifications
- Formal training or equivalent professional experience as a wine specialist or sommelier
- Demonstrated success in a similar wine or spirits sales role
- Strong customer service orientation and commercial acumen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative team mindset
Skills
Experience
Prior successful experience in wine or spirits retail or hospitality is mandatory; beginners without equivalent professional background need not apply.
Education
Formal training in viticulture, oenology, or sommelier certification (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers) is preferred; equivalent professional experience in wine retail or service may substitute.
