Role & Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, assess their needs and recommend wines and spirits suited to their preferences and occasions.
- Provide informed tasting notes, guide customers through selections, handle sales transactions and execute upselling to increase basket value.
- Support merchandising and visual presentation of the cellar — restocking, product rotation, shelf maintenance and cleanliness to preserve product quality and appeal.
- Participate in vendor tastings and product selection processes; assist in organising and potentially hosting customer tastings and promotional events.
- Contribute to day-to-day operational tasks of the department, including inventory counts, order preparation and liaising with the department manager.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a complementary sommelier qualification (mention complémentaire sommellerie) or equivalent vocational training.
- Strong customer orientation with the ability to explain and advocate product choices clearly.
- Commercial instincts with experience or willingness to perform sales and cash handling.
- Organised, rigorous, autonomous and energetic; capable of working collaboratively within a retail team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanour appropriate to a luxury retail environment.
