La Grande Epicerie de Paris (Paris) seeks an Alternant Caviste — apprenticeship in the wine cellar to advise clients, run tastings and support cellar operations.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers in the cellar area, identify needs and recommend wines and spirits tailored to their preferences.
  • Advise and guide clients through selections, support purchasing decisions, carry out sales and complementary selling, and process payments.
  • Support merchandising: restock, maintain presentation and cleanliness of the cellar, and participate in product displays and promotions.
  • Participate in product tastings to inform buying decisions and assist external winemakers with in-store tastings.
  • Propose and potentially lead customer tastings and tasting events under supervision.
  • Contribute to daily shop operations including inventory counts and preparation of orders; report to the section manager.

Qualifications

  • Current enrolment in a sommelier vocational program (mention complémentaire sommellerie) or equivalent wine studies.
  • Strong customer orientation with the ability to share product knowledge and enthusiasm for wines and spirits.
  • Commercial sensibility and ability to upsell while maintaining premium service standards.
  • Organized, rigorous, proactive and able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine taste for team-based retail work.
