Wine & Spirits Sales Associate at Bon Marché Group, Paris. Full-time CDI position in selective retail wine department.
Role & Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and identify their wine and spirits requirements, providing personalized recommendations and expert pairing advice with food
- Prepare products for sale, process transactions at point of sale, and conclude customer interactions with professionalism
- Manage customer complaints or escalate to management as needed depending on issue severity
- Open and close the wine department, execute product placement and restocking procedures to maintain optimal shelf presentation
- Participate in inventory management, place orders, and monitor stock levels in coordination with departmental systems
- Address supplier issues and escalate to management when necessary
- Verify product signage, pricing labels, and promotional displays; implement updates as required
- Monitor expiration dates and sell-by dates; track product losses and markdowns
- Propose and participate in merchandising layout modifications and commercial campaigns
- Support wine education events including tastings, sommelier-led lessons, and customer training sessions in coordination with other departments
- Conduct and assist with inventory counts and preparatory procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of the wine department, equipment, and storage areas with particular attention to waste segregation
- Observe all health, safety, and hygiene protocols
- Participate in delivery organization and storage of incoming shipments
Qualifications
- Ability to provide knowledgeable wine and spirits recommendations
- Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to customer satisfaction
- Proficiency in point-of-sale operations and cash handling
- Understanding of wine and spirits product knowledge, regions, varietals, and food pairings
- Attention to detail in product presentation and merchandising
- Ability to work flexibly within a retail environment
Skills
Experience
Entry-level experience or willingness to develop expertise in wine and spirits retail; prior retail customer service experience is beneficial but not required.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; formal wine education (WSET Level 1 or equivalent sommelier certification) a plus but not required at entry level.
