Le Bon Marché seeks a Commercial Finance Controller to steer the performance of several retail departments, overseeing budgets, P&L, seasonal purchasing and commercial KPIs in close collaboration with department directors and buyers. The role is a full-time permanent contract with a hybrid working arrangement.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Steer the assigned commercial departments and monitor and improve their economic performance.
  • Support commercial department directors through budget cycles, including defining the market strategy, challenging assumptions on revenue, margin and expenses (including personnel costs), meeting Group deadlines, and presenting the budget to the Groupe Bon Marché Executive Committee.
  • Monitor the budget and revise forecasts.
  • Track expenses, particularly personnel costs, in coordination with sales teams.
  • Challenge budget reforecasts.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of tools to monitor activity and manage P&L delivery.
  • Prepare and lead regular performance reviews with the directors of assigned commercial departments.
  • Contribute to seasonal purchasing decisions and optimisation by developing department- and brand-level open-to-buy budgets (OTB) with buyers.
  • Support buyers in preparing purchasing sessions and commercial negotiations.
  • Challenge buyers’ proposed amounts using analyses of past sell-through.
  • Monitor commitments against defined purchasing budgets.
  • Track inventory and sell-through rates.
  • Prepare end-of-season reviews.
  • Continuously monitor key commercial KPIs, analyse variances against targets and recommend concrete actions to optimise performance.
  • Contribute to projects involving changes to commercial floor space.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in management control or performance management, preferably in a similar environment.
  • Sensitivity to the retail environment and its operational aspects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence presenting and leading meetings for non-financial audiences, including senior stakeholders.
  • Curious and collaborative approach, with the ability to work with a range of operational stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, rigour, and the ability to work in a demanding, fast-changing environment.
  • Organised, able to anticipate, prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Autonomous in managing the assigned scope, with the initiative to develop solutions and improvements.
  • Able to constructively challenge senior stakeholders and present value-creating arguments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; SAP knowledge is an advantage.
  • Management experience is an advantage.
