La Grande Epicerie de Paris seeks a full-time Butcher in Paris to prepare meats and drive sales at this iconic specialty food retailer.
Role & Responsibilities
- Receive, store, and process incoming meat shipments within the butchery laboratory
- Prepare and section carcass meats according to quality and commercial standards
- Portion, wrap, weigh, and label prepared meats for retail display
- Welcome customers, assess their requirements, make product recommendations, and complete transactions
- Communicate product sourcing, environmental certifications, packaging, and origin information to customers
- Identify and execute complementary sales opportunities
- Maintain attractive, organized merchandise displays to maximize visual appeal and sales
- Monitor product quality, expiration dates, and shelf life management (DLC, DDM, DLUO)
- Verify pricing accuracy, signage, and promotional materials; update as needed
- Participate in inventory counts, planogram resets, and promotional merchandising campaigns
- Organize and support customer tasting events and product demonstrations
- Maintain comprehensive laboratory and retail area cleanliness and equipment functionality
- Apply proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all occupational health and safety protocols
- Support waste reduction initiatives and participate in departmental sustainability efforts
- Resolve customer objections professionally or escalate issues to management as appropriate
Qualifications
- Training and/or equivalent hands-on experience in butchery practices
- Demonstrated excellence in customer relations and commercial sales orientation
- Strong product knowledge and understanding of offered services
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and methodical approach to task execution
