About Kiehl’s

Kiehl’s began in 1851 as an apothecary on the corner of Third Avenue and East 13th Street in Manhattan. Its skincare counters still offer consultations and samples, two practices handed down from the pharmacy.

Kiehl’s is hiring a full-time Store Manager to lead and develop a specialty retail team, drive sales and deliver exceptional customer service. The role oversees store operations, recruitment, performance coaching, expenses and merchandising, and requires 5+ years of specialty retail store management experience.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the store team to achieve business objectives and sales growth while delivering optimal customer service.
  • Generate individual and collective sales by maximizing selling opportunities, maintaining customer service at brand standards, and developing improvement plans with the team.
  • Monitor retail KPIs and market information; identify store-level strengths and opportunities, and coordinate actions with the retail and training teams to maximize sales.
  • Manage store-controlled expenses within budget, including staff efficiency planning, cleaning and office-material orders, and identify opportunities to increase contribution.
  • Oversee daily, weekly and monthly point-of-sale operations.
  • Manage recruitment in partnership with the Area Manager and HR, including onboarding new Beauty Advisors.
  • Motivate, coach and develop team members through weekly feedback; assess and develop Beauty Advisor competencies to meet store productivity objectives.
  • Ensure the team's individual and collective skills are used effectively and schedule staff efficiently.
  • Resolve boutique operational issues autonomously and develop positive relationships in the local community.
  • Identify opportunities to drive store traffic through community engagement and events.
  • Demonstrate expert product knowledge, including features, benefits, usage and application techniques, and an in-depth understanding of service excellence and brand expectations for best-in-class service.
  • Ensure the store meets merchandising guidelines.
  • Work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Work on the sales floor for extended periods, use stairs and/or a ladder as needed, and regularly lift up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have 5+ years of specialty retail store management experience.
  • Have a high school diploma; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success driving sales by coaching and developing a team of direct reports.
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful and flexible, with the ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape and the ability to translate findings into positive business impact.
  • Passion for skincare and customer service.
  • Comfort conducting skincare services on customers' faces after training.
