About Kiehl’s

Kiehl’s began in 1851 as an apothecary on the corner of Third Avenue and East 13th Street in Manhattan. Its skincare counters still offer consultations and samples, two practices handed down from the pharmacy.

Kiehl’s seeks a Sales and Training Executive for its Seattle territory to drive retail sales and develop personnel and education strategies across department and specialty accounts. The permanent, full-time role oversees account performance, seasonal planning, launches, merchandising standards and training, with 60–80% travel based on business needs.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Drive retail sales per store and develop personnel and education strategies for department store and specialty accounts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with assigned accounts and manage them to achieve daily and monthly business goals, promotional activity and product launches.
  • Coach beauty advisors to exceed sales expectations and fulfil Kiehl’s brand responsibilities; partner with in-store leaders on retailer and brand sales initiatives.
  • Plan, deliver and follow up on new-hire training, including timely completion of Kiehl’s Academy courses and use of Kiehl’s training and education tools.
  • Monitor and analyse business trends across territory stores, then implement seasonal in-store plans and execution.
  • Plan and execute product launches, gifts with purchase (GWPs) and purchase-with-purchase (PWPs) with store or department managers to maximise visual impact and sales performance.
  • Track total retail performance across the territory daily, monthly and seasonally.
  • Arrange and lead seasonal meetings with each store; prepare and deliver seasonal retailer presentations; participate in or organise regional retailer strategy meetings.
  • Monitor counter stock and display cleanliness, hold beauty advisors accountable for Kiehl’s store quality requirements, maintain merchandising standards, and protect company assets by monitoring returns, testers and TOA usage.
  • Develop, motivate and train business managers and counter personnel through education and e-learning programmes.
  • Ensure consistent execution of pricing, merchandising and marketing strategies across territory stores.
  • Communicate selling and inventory trends accurately and promptly to district and regional management and home-office partners.
  • Attend and participate in sales and management training meetings and events as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of retail management experience, including at least 3–5 years managing multiple retailers or store locations across a broad geographic area.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales goals and brand initiatives by hiring, leading, motivating and developing effective beauty advisors.
  • Resourceful and flexible, with the ability to solve problems promptly.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and business partners.
  • Strong merchandising skills to maintain brand visual standards across stores and retailers.
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the business landscape and ability to translate findings into positive business impact.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to stand and move around the store for more than 90% of scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to lift 20 lb or more throughout scheduled shifts.
