Role & Responsibilities

• Support the Financial Controller in month-end reporting, including posting month-end journals, preparing prepayments and asset accounting entries.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review and process intercompany postings; prepare and code IC recharges and liaise with the EMEA intercompany platform in Paris for SAP processing.
• Support VAT return preparation and other fiscal submissions.
• Reconcile monthly sales and perform monthly analysis of store costs versus budget/forecast.
• Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual external reporting submissions for locations such as Bicester and Heathrow.
• Process business expenses using CONCUR and prepare supporting documentation for the annual audit.
• Assist in maintaining the capital allowances ledger and in the preparation of statutory accounts.
• Respond to queries from stores, operational teams and internal/external auditors.
• Prepare national statistics reporting and other ad hoc financial reports as requested.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate or current student seeking a placement year (12-month internship).
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related discipline, or demonstrable strong interest in accounting.
• Previous experience in accounting or accounts payable preferred; retail finance experience desirable.
• Proficiency in Excel; exposure to SAP and CONCUR advantageous.
• Familiarity with VAT accounting preferable but not essential.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and clear, concise communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, keep the team informed of progress and manage multiple deadlines.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset and willingness to ask questions to confirm process understanding.

Ideal candidate is a recent graduate or a student seeking a placement year; prior experience in accounting/accounts payable is preferred and retail finance exposure is beneficial.

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or current enrolment seeking a placement year.
