The Retail Supervisor supports store leadership at Kate Spade in Carlsbad, California, leading sales-floor service, team development, client outreach, omnichannel initiatives, and store operations. The role requires at least 2 years of retail service experience in management or floor leadership and offers a base pay range of $17.00–$27.75 per hour.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support store leadership by creating a customer-first, high-energy sales environment and providing exceptional floor supervision.
- Drive store productivity and profitability through team building, coaching, goal setting, client development, and adherence to Kate Spade New York standards.
- Act as a brand ambassador, set the tone on the sales floor, lead by example, and elevate service, selling behaviours, and operational excellence.
- Drive personal sales while leading the team to achieve sales and KPI targets; analyse metrics and implement best practices to improve results and efficiency.
- Build client relationships through proactive outreach and Kate Spade service standards; ensure exceptional in-store and after-sales experiences; lead outreach to drive repeat business and VIP retention.
- Model Kate Spade service behaviours (“host of the party”—meet, greet, and create conversations) to foster strong relationships and discover client needs.
- Coach the team on goals and performance; support recruitment, onboarding, role modelling, and ongoing development and training.
- Provide store leadership with feedback on individual performance and development needs, and advocate for the team.
- Foster an inclusive, equitable, and diverse culture that empowers teams to thrive authentically.
- Perform and supervise opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, bank deposits, register operations, and securing the facility as a key holder.
- Process POS transactions and inventory functions accurately, including transfers, receiving, shipments, repairs, and damages, to maintain inventory integrity.
- Keep the stockroom organised and direct timely replenishment to ensure product availability on the sales floor.
- Drive omnichannel and virtual-selling initiatives, including live-stream shopping.
- Promote brand-safe social media engagement and awareness of trends.
- Lead customer data capture to grow loyalty and repeat purchases.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented, proactive, and able to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- At least 2 years of experience in a retail service environment in a management or floor leadership role; luxury, premium, or comparable retail experience preferred.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff and confidently navigate the sales floor.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Social media literacy and understanding of platform trends.
- Comfort with omnichannel and virtual-selling tools and clienteling systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs, including nights, weekends, peak busy season, high-traffic retail days, and public holidays.
- Ability to regularly lift at least 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs, and to climb, bend, kneel, and manoeuvre around the sales floor and stockroom.
