This temporary, part-time position offers an opportunity to join the Jo Malone London team at the John Lewis Southampton location as a Beauty Stylist. The role combines creative makeup artistry with personalized customer service to deliver inspirational in-store experiences that educate and delight fragrance and beauty enthusiasts. Responsibilities include providing expert product consultation, executing in-store events, maintaining visual merchandising standards, and supporting the sales team during peak retail periods.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide inspirational, authentic, and personalized customer service through tailored fragrance and makeup consultations
• Deliver creative makeup application and styling services that demonstrate technical expertise and artistic vision
• Execute and support in-store events and promotional activities to drive sales and brand engagement
• Maintain elevated visual merchandising standards throughout the store to ensure compelling product presentation
• Develop and demonstrate comprehensive product knowledge across the Jo Malone London fragrance and beauty portfolio
• Work collaboratively with the retail team to achieve sales targets and operational excellence
• Operate retail point-of-sale systems accurately and efficiently

Qualifications

• Certification in makeup artistry or demonstrable professional experience in retail makeup application (preferred)
• Strong creative and technical expertise in makeup application and color theory
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional, personalized customer service in a luxury retail environment
• Experience with retail point-of-sale software systems
• Ability to work flexibly across retail hours including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and special events
• Proof of legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom

Skills

Experience

Previous retail makeup experience or a foundation in beauty and cosmetics application is desirable; however, candidates with amateur-level experience and demonstrable creative talent are welcome to apply. The employer prioritizes passion, aptitude, and commitment to professional development.

Education

Formal makeup artistry certification or equivalent training is preferred but not required; candidates with demonstrated practical expertise and a willingness to develop further are encouraged to apply.
