Jil Sander seeks a Finance Controller in Milan to oversee profitability, stock valuation and product-cost analysis at its headquarters.
Role & Responsibilities
- Analyze gross profit dynamics by channel, business line and product category; monitor pricing, mark-ups and markdowns and translate results into actionable commercial recommendations.
- Manage stock performance analysis (turnover, ageing, slow movers), support stock valuation and assess impacts on margins, cash flow and clearance strategies.
- Monitor and control product development costs including prototyping and sampling; analyse variances, identify cost drivers and ensure alignment with budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reporting on profitability, stock and product costs; develop dashboards and KPI frameworks to support decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and monthly close activities with accurate performance monitoring and variance analysis.
- Act as a finance business partner to Product and Commercial functions, providing clear insight, risk identification and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline; a master’s degree or professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA/CIMA) is advantageous.
- Minimum of 3+ years' experience in finance or management accounting, preferably within fashion, luxury retail or consumer goods.
- Proven track record in profitability analysis, stock valuation and product costing.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems and BI tools.
- Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to synthesise complex datasets into clear insights.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a creative and operational environment.

At least 3 years of progressive finance experience, ideally within fashion, luxury retail or consumer goods, with demonstrable exposure to profitability analysis, stock management and product cost control.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; master’s degree or professional accounting qualification preferred.
