Jaeger-LeCoultre seeks an experienced restoration watchmaker to repair, restore, and service vintage and historic timepieces within its Client Service department. The role encompasses comprehensive mechanical restoration, component fabrication or replacement, aesthetic finishing work, and rigorous final inspection and testing. This is a specialized position requiring mastery of traditional horological techniques combined with proficiency in precision machining equipment.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Restore and return vintage timepieces to working condition, including disassembly, repair, and reassembly of complex mechanisms
  • Execute restoration finishing work such as anglage (chamfering), polishing, steel restoration, and other aesthetic treatments to original specifications
  • Exchange or fabricate replacement components using shop equipment including precision lathes, mills, and specialized watchmaking tools
  • Conduct comprehensive final inspection and testing: functional performance, aesthetics, water resistance, wear simulation, calendar and chronograph functions, casing, and boxing
  • Manage parts inventory and procurement; design and fabricate specialized tooling as required for individual restoration projects
  • Maintain detailed technical and historical documentation for each restored timepiece

Qualifications

  • CFC (apprenticeship diploma) in watchmaking or equivalent professional certification
  • Multiple years of professional experience in a heritage or restoration watchmaking workshop
  • Demonstrated expertise in vintage timepiece servicing (SAV environment)
  • Proficiency with precision machining equipment (lathe, milling machine, timing equipment)
  • Passion for horology and horological history
  • Meticulous attention to detail and precision
  • Strong client-focused problem-solving mindset
  • Open, communicative personality and ability to collaborate
