Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the development, validation and deployment of AI-based surface-inspection systems for watch components and assembled movements.
  • Design and execute test plans, prepare and curate labelled image datasets, and run controlled experiments to evaluate model performance.
  • Implement and maintain automated test benches and data pipelines; integrate software prototypes with production test hardware where applicable.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of detection and classification metrics, identify failure modes, and propose corrective actions to improve robustness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance and R&D to transfer algorithmic solutions into the manufacturing environment.
  • Document test procedures, experimental results and system specifications; present findings to technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Physics or a related technical discipline.
  • Practical experience with computer vision or machine learning through coursework, project work or prior internships.
  • Familiarity with experimental test methods, dataset annotation and the evaluation of classification/detection models.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to translate laboratory results into actionable engineering improvements.
  • Effective collaborator with clear technical communication skills and the ability to work across production and R&D teams.
  • Availability to work at 80–100% (flexible full- or part-time internship schedule) on site in Schaffhausen.

Experience
