The Alteration Specialist fits and alters garments to clients’ specifications, advising on cut and fit and partnering with Sales Associates to support client satisfaction. This part-time role pays CAD 17.95–29.25 per hour as a starting range, with offers varying by experience, qualifications, performance and local market conditions; benefits include pension matching, incentives and an employee discount.
Role & Responsibilities
- Fit, pin, mark and alter garments to clients’ specifications.
- Measure clients to determine the scope of alteration work.
- Pin and mark garments according to fabric type to ensure a correct fit.
- Complete alterations as pinned or marked, to the highest technical standard.
- Deliver finished garments on or before the promised date.
- Inform clients of applicable alteration charges according to the current price list.
- Confirm and communicate the completion date for each alteration.
- Work professionally with Sales Associates to support client satisfaction.
- Provide expert guidance on garment cut and fit.
- Complete the designated sections of alteration tags.
- Follow Holt Renfrew’s price list.
- Inform the department manager of supply requirements or equipment repair needs.
- Help keep the department clean and orderly.
- Comply with all Health & Safety policies and requirements.
Qualifications
- Technical training in tailoring or dressmaking, or equivalent.
- Previous experience altering luxury fabrics.
- Comfortable and clear communication in English and/or French.
