Hermès seeks a Workshop Manager in Giberville, Normandy to lead its new artisan production facility. Lead a team of 40 craftspeople and drive quality training and development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Animate the supervised production workshop by deploying pedagogical methods adapted to diverse learner profiles and progression levels
- Monitor workshop output against established efficiency benchmarks, tracking and analyzing performance indicators (hours delivered, quality metrics, productivity, attendance), identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions
- Deploy training monitoring and evaluation tools in coordination with the EHSF Training Manager to fulfill Qualiopi certification requirements
- Ensure consistent application of craft standards, heritage techniques, and product quality specifications across all deliverables
- Lead periodic performance reviews and support career objectives aligned with integration into standard production workshops
- Nurture artisan competency development in both technical skills and professional behaviors in keeping with Hermès values
- Facilitate effective internal communication and foster a positive workplace climate within the workshop
- Champion and coordinate the community of mentors and senior craftspeople
- Serve as guarantor of health, safety, and environmental compliance; champion ergonomic best practices and musculoskeletal disorder prevention
- Conduct risk assessments, incident analysis, and continuous workplace condition monitoring
- Participate actively in cross-functional leadership collaboration and contribute to dismantling silos across the burgeoning site
- Partner with site management on hiring decisions for artisans upon completion of their professionalization contracts
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on artisan experience with documented mentoring, training, or advisory roles demonstrating strong pedagogical capability and genuine interest in team leadership
- Alternatively, proven team management experience in a manufacturing or artisanal environment
- Strong knowledge of production planning and workshop management
- Demonstrated commitment to employee development, skill progression, and craft excellence
- Natural aptitude for hands-on, field-based leadership and close team collaboration
- Proficiency with production management software (Ariane, Quartis, Power BI, ADP) and standard office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Alignment with Hermès values and commitment to luxury craftsmanship

Experience
Minimum 5 years of artisan-level experience with documented roles in mentorship, training, or technical leadership; OR equivalent team management experience in manufacturing or luxury goods production environments.
Education
No specific formal qualifications mandated; relevant vocational training or diplomas in leather craftsmanship, leatherwork, or manufacturing management are advantageous but not strictly required.
