Role & Responsibilities
- Perform fittings, marking, alterations and pressing to Hermès quality standards, completing work within established timeframes.
- Operate and maintain tailor shop equipment, including industrial sewing/straight stitch machines, blind hemmer/serger machines, button machines, cutting tables and pressing/steaming equipment.
- Advise internal and external clients on alteration options, accurately estimate lead times and costs, and manage client expectations.
- Support the selling process by greeting clients, conducting fittings, handling immediate alteration requests and fostering long‑term client relationships.
- Collaborate closely with the Made to Measure (MTM) Client Development Manager on MTM and Bespoke orders; provide status updates and follow-up communication.
- Press all altered garments and teach basic pressing techniques to store personnel when required.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge of Hermès womenswear and menswear collections and awareness of the luxury retail market and competitors.
- Travel domestically and to Paris as needed to attend MTM and Bespoke trainings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Director or store leadership.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of professional alterations/tailoring experience in a luxury or high‑end retail environment.
- Demonstrable expertise in garment construction and men’s suiting techniques; strong knowledge of fabrications and materials.
- Advanced applied tailoring skills and the ability to assess and make autonomous decisions regarding product alterations.
- Superior communication skills for interacting with clients, management and boutique colleagues.
- Proven ability to organize and track product and client information accurately.
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs without assistance and perform standing/repetitive tasks typical of a tailoring workshop.

Experience
At least eight years of hands‑on alterations and tailoring experience within a luxury retail or bespoke tailoring context, including measurable exposure to men’s suiting and bespoke/made‑to‑measure processes.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; formal training or apprenticeship in tailoring, couture or garment construction preferred.

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 88093.15 to USD 94,500 per annum.
