Role & Responsibilities
- Complete all fittings in a timely manner, ensuring proper fit and tailoring of garments within Hermès standards
- Understand style and fit of various garments and maintain up-to-date product knowledge of Hermès women's and men's collections seasonally
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in operating tailor shop equipment including industrial sewing machines, blind hemming/serger equipment, button machines, cutting tables, and pressing/steaming equipment
- Advise clients on product alterations, accurately calculate lead times and costs, and manage expectations
- Maintain excellent customer service standards within the boutique and foster client relationships to increase brand loyalty
- Press all altered clothing with awareness of pressing techniques for various fabric weights
- Assist in teaching store personnel basic pressing techniques
- Learn, retain, and communicate awareness of merchandise features and benefits of all existing and new products
- Coordinate with the Made-to-Measure Client Development Manager on all MTM and Bespoke orders, providing follow-up and project status communication
- Travel domestically and internationally to Paris as needed for MTM and Bespoke training sessions
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- 8 or more years of experience in alterations in a luxury retail environment
- Exude the spirit of Hermès through sound tailoring skills, knowledge, and experience
- Professional understanding of garment fitting, fabric knowledge, styling and manufacturing techniques
- Strong working knowledge of garment construction and men's suiting techniques in the luxury sector
- Strong knowledge of different fabrications and materials
- High level of applied tailoring skills
- Superior communication skills to effectively engage with clients, management, and boutique employees
- Ability to effectively organize and track product and client information
- Ability to lift between 0–25 lbs without assistance

8+ years of professional experience in garment alterations and tailoring within a luxury retail setting, with demonstrated expertise in high-end apparel fit and construction
Education
Formal tailoring training or apprenticeship preferred; extensive professional experience in luxury alterations may substitute for formal qualification
