Hermès Supply Chain Intern (Leather Goods)
Les Manufactures d'Auvergne — Supply Chain Intern (Leather Goods) in Riom, France. 6‑month internship focused on process improvement and logistics.
Overview
Les Manufactures d'Auvergne operates as a strategic leather‑goods production hub within the Hermès Maroquinerie Sellerie division. The organisation combines traditional artisanal know‑how with measured industrial development, operating the historic Sayat atelier and a newly inaugurated Riom site that hosts logistics and supply‑chain teams.
Role & Responsibilities
- Map and observe current logistics and supply‑chain operations; quantify interactions and workflows and benchmark practices with the other site.
- Identify time‑saving levers and process improvement opportunities; design and implement corrective actions with the Supply Chain Manager.
- Lead the jewellery‑service project: analyse existing process, procure equipment, automate ordering files, produce user and administrator guides, install and test equipment, deliver training and pilot the rollout.
- Define the pigeonnier (leather stock) management organisation in coordination with cutting and supply‑chain teams; write procedures for leather consumption, stocking, intersite requests and label re‑issuance.
- Design and implement stock audit processes and KPIs to reconcile physical versus system records, with emphasis on material consumption metrics for new hides.
- Specify and deploy digital tools to support thread ordering, Kanban target quantity updates and consumables sizing; author user and administrator documentation and support implementation.
- Rationalise consumables management: update historical database, re‑size safety stocks, improve the standard requisition form used by RA and accompany operational adoption.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Bac+4 / Bac+5 engineering programme (or equivalent Master-level study) — internship placement required.
- Demonstrable interest or prior exposure to supply chain, continuous improvement, process design and supporting tools.
- Strong organisational aptitude, rigor, autonomy and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Comfortable working on the shop floor and engaging with cross‑functional teams (cutting, production, logistics, planners).
- Curious, flexible and operationally oriented; able to translate observations into robust procedures and usable documentation.
