Hermès seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer in Milan to ensure quality compliance and continuous improvement across Italian manufacturing partners and subcontractors.
Role & Responsibilities
- Establish and execute monthly supplier visit schedules, conducting product, process, and organizational audits tailored to varying complexity levels across Tier 1–3 supplier networks
- Develop and deliver comprehensive monthly KPI reports documenting supplier quality performance, key events, and activity summaries; establish monthly review rituals with Maison leadership and supplier partners
- Conduct supplier quality maturity assessments during the first three months; design and implement performance improvement strategies aligned with Hermès standards and supplier context
- Lead and coordinate complex quality problem-solving initiatives with suppliers, training teams on 8D methodology and supporting task force coordination to build autonomous problem-resolution capability
- Contribute to product and process qualification during prototype and pre-series phases, ensuring alignment with Hermès quality specifications
- Assess and qualify new supplier candidates in collaboration with Finished Product Quality, Procurement, Technical Office, and Technical Development teams
- Implement rapid quality control measures for finished goods and semi-finished products, verify conformance to Hermès criteria, isolate suspect lots, and initiate corrective action plans
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science, preferably with specialization in Industrial Quality Management, or equivalent professional experience in comparable roles
- Demonstrated experience in Production Quality and/or New Product Development Quality and/or Supplier Quality Assurance
- Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Advanced expertise in quality tools: 8D problem-solving, Control Plans & Control Routes, process auditing, FMEA (Product/Process), statistical data analysis, Poka-Yoke, metrology, and process control models
- Fluency in Italian and French or English
Skills
Experience
Significant professional experience in production quality oversight, new product development quality, or supplier quality assurance within industrial or artisanal manufacturing contexts. Experience working with luxury or high-end production environments is advantageous. Demonstrated track record of leading supplier performance improvements and quality compliance initiatives.
Education
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent technical discipline; specialization in Industrial Quality Management is preferred.
