Manufactures de Franche‑Comté (Hermès) seeks a Sewing Machine Mechanic in Allenjoie, France — 6‑month fixed‑term contract starting June 2026.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform piquage (stitching) of leather goods produced by the workshop’s artisan teams (approx. 28 artisans).
  • Adapt stitching technique to different leathers and models, including varying stitch lengths and sizes on a single article.
  • Select appropriate threads and needles according to the task and material.
  • Prepare, set up and adjust sewing machines; carry out first‑level machine maintenance and simple troubleshooting.
  • Execute self‑inspection and quality control of stitched work to ensure compliance with production standards.
  • Manage and replenish thread inventory for the workshop.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and ergonomic best practices on the shop floor; collaborate effectively with artisans and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ professional experience on industrial sewing machines, ideally with experience in leather stitching (piquage).
  • Demonstrable mastery of stitching savoir‑faire validated by prior production experience.
  • Technical understanding of sewing machine mechanics and ability to perform 1st‑level maintenance.
  • Strong manual precision, rigor and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills and capacity to collaborate with multiple interlocutors (artisans, supervisors, maintenance).
  • Organised, autonomous, service‑oriented and responsive; able to adapt and persevere in a production environment.

Experience
