Hermès seeks Sensory Qualification Engineer Intern (6 months) in Pantin, France. Support luxury hardware innovation in leather goods.
Role & Responsibilities
- Qualify and categorize mechanical systems and mechanisms in Hermès metallic components using sensory analysis tools and scientific measurement methodologies
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of existing mechanical systems and their functional applications (sliders, pivots, snap mechanisms, etc.)
- Analyze component movements within the context of product usage scenarios and end-user interaction
- Identify and quantify appropriate performance parameters for each product category and mechanical type
- Correlate mechanical parameters with geometry, material composition, manufacturing processes, and surface finishes
- Collaborate with the Bureau des Orfèvres, Industrialization Service, Quality Service, and external suppliers to standardize specifications
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of an engineering school with specialization in mechanical engineering or sensory engineering
- Demonstrated knowledge of machining and/or stamping processes
- Strong understanding of mechanics and materials science
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive technical information
- Excellent analytical and synthesis capabilities
- Self-directed with strong problem-solving orientation
Skills
Experience
Beginners accepted; no prior professional experience required. Academic background in mechanical engineering, materials science, or sensory engineering preferred.
Education
Engineering school diploma or equivalent (école d'Ingénieur). Specialization in mechanical engineering or sensory engineering strongly preferred.
